HIGH POINT to benefit Micah Montag

As Marissa, my daughter was growing up, our family became active members of Grand Valley Pony Club of Western Colorado.  I was the chapter’s Education Chairman and the Rocky Mountain Regional Treasurer.  Though Marissa is now in college, I like to stay close to the Pony Club families.  It was with sadness that I heard of the illness the Micah Montag, a pony club family member.  I knew that I could help by bringing High Point to Grand Junction for a special benefit. Micah is 9 years old.  He will turn 10 in April.   He is known by the Grand Valley Pony Club as the boy with the sunny smile and friendly, fun-loving demeanor.  When big sis, Emily attends Pony Club events, Micah is there to support her and the club.  Micah plays baseball in the rookie league for Monument Little League.   He also loves Legos and fishing.  Micah was diagnosed with a brain tumor late last year.  Since that time, he has made many trips to Denver for treatment.  Currently, he is home in stable condition.  He hopes to take a Make a Wish trip this spring.

“High Point,” the benefit art show will be held  April 18 & 19 at the Horse in Sport, 215 Colorado Ave Grand Junction 970-263-0101 .  On Friday, April 18th from 5-7 pm, the Grand Valley Pony Club will host a reception for “High Point,” with barn-themed treats aimed to please both horses and their riders.  Available for sale will be 30 paintings, a small collection of sculpture, and blank card sets.  30% of sales of the artwork will be donated to Micah.  Also, on Friday, Barb Haynie and I will offer 2 paintings for silent auction, with 100% of sales going to assist with Micah Montag’s medical expenses.  The art show will continue through Saturday, April 19th.  Tiger Adams, owner of the Horse in Sport is graciously opening her store for this benefit art show.  She will forego all commission on art sales, so commission sales can be earmarked to help defray Micah Montag’s medical expenses.
