2014 Year of the Horse

2014 is the Year of the Horse in the Chinese zodiac, beginning Jan 31, 2014 and lasting until Feb 18, 2015.  The spirit of the horse embodies good character and fundamental values. It is energetic, bright, warm-hearted, intelligent and able.  A quick Google search will reveal celebrations all over the world.  In Colorado Barb Haynie and I will kick off our year-long art show at 45 Degree Gallery in Colorado Springs.

In anticipation of the show’s opening on the Chinese New Year, the year of the Horse, I am developing a series of paintings based on Zhezhi, the traditional Chinese folk art of paper folding.  Originated more than 1900 years ago in ancient China, the craft was exported to Japan, where it became popularized as origami
